Jonathan Paul

I've been called a lot of things as an artist, but the one that has stuck out the most to me has been 'provocateur'.

I have always regarded art as something that should mirror society. Artists are sensitive to people, environments, cultures, politics, consumerism, moral establishments, race, values, and so much more. I've always viewed artists as documentarians of sorts, barometers, outsiders who see us all through a different lens. We record the temperature of society. My process isn't personal necessarily, I view myself more as a story-teller. Each work tells a short story. Irony generally is the lens that I see through when creating, as I'm constantly feeling as if society is sleep walking in a consumer driven haze of self worship.
